Apple breathalyzer for Microsoft

A story from CNBC via Engadget has the following quote from Steve Jobs regarding Robbie Bach (Microsoft) saying that the Zune was an iPod alternative:

“Was he inebriated? Do you even know anyone who owns a Zune?”

Wow.  How very catty of Jobs.  [snert]  And a valid point to boot.   I have at least -seen- Creative Zen and Apple iPod’s in the wild.  I’ve never seen another iRiver, another Zune, another SanDisk Sansa out there in the world.

iRiver phone! [happy dance]

Engadget has a post up from CES 2008 saying that an iriver 3-inch touchscreen “GSM phone” is headed for the States.

If my 1G Clix had slightly better podcast support, I would never have moved onto the iPod and Zune. If it had WiFi podcast support, easier video conversion, and more codex… then it would beat out the PSP too.

My first iRiver lasted over two years of pure abuse. My second is still kicking it.

In short, this may be -the- phone to get lost in the shuffle. I’d not be surprised if this turns out to be the very best touch screen phone of this generation (whatever that means) and has less sales than a correspondingly pathetic HP smart phone.
