Twilight: Worth the uproar?
In one word: nope.
That was easy.
I’m a sucker for vampire tales. Yes, I know that they are mostly crap and no, I don’t really care. For its place in history, Twilight is a fairly good adolescent vampire romance.
It certainly has some issues, mostly the bizarre sparkly skin. On the other hand, some of the crying over this movie has to do with the “message” that Twilight sends. Supposedly, Bella is a strong character who comes under the sway of Edward and suddenly becomes whipped. To which I have one question… so when is she supposed to have become a super human who can in any way match the vampires that she has fallen in with? Don’t be ridiculous.

Oh, and this is fantasy, fer fuck’s sake.
Whatever. I enjoyed it. I’ll probably watch the sequel when it comes out. I may even read the books, if I ever catch up on my backlog. But I’m not going to go re-watching this like I did Underworld or pushing it onto others like I do with Farscape. Love it or leave it, it isn’t worth your emotional distress in either direction.
